Baseball Suffers Four-Game Sweep In Carson This Weekend

CARSON, Calif. — Sonoma State got on the board in the first inning when Devin Alexander hit a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Daniel Caresio, but the Seawolves were only able to add one more run in the eighth inning in Sunday's 4-2 defeat to Cal State Dominguez Hills. The Seawolves see their CCAA record drop to 14-18 and 20-21 overall. The Toros record improves to 17-15 in conference and 23-19 overall.

Caresio singled to start the first inning and moved to second on a Philip Ramos walk. He advanced to third on an Alex Crosby fly ball before scoring on the Alexander sacrifice fly. The lead didn't stand for long as the Toros got even with a run in their half of the first inning. The Toros took a 3-1 lead in the third and extended it to 4-1 with a run in the seventh. The Seawolves didn't go down without a fight as Alex Crosby singled to lead off the eighth and later scored on a wild pitch, but the Seawolves weren't able to get any closer after the Crosby run.

Caresio went 2 for 4 with a run. Crosby, Alexander, Eric Ehlow, Dustyn Macaluso, and Adam Manzer all had one hit. Bobby Raymos started for Sonoma State and took the loss (4-3), going four innings and allowing three earned runs on seven hits and three strikeouts. The bullpen did a good job of keeping the team in the game.  Mitch Coombs came in relief of Raymos and pitched three innings, allowing an earned run on three hits. Devin Bradley pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the eighth.

Jeffrey Gogue got the win (2-3) for Cal State Dominguez Hills going 5 1/3 innings, allowing an earned run on five hits. Brady Conlon went 1 for 3 with two RBI's.

Sonoma State resumes CCAA action Friday at 3:00 P.M. at San Francisco State. The Seawolves and Gators move the series to Sonoma State for a doubleheader Saturday starting at 11:00 A.M.
