ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Boosted by a very strong spring showing, including a national championship in men's golf, Sonoma State University surged to a 51st place finish in the 2008-09 Learfield Sports Director's Cup Standings.  The Seawolves finished with 307 points to place them in the top 80% of all NCAA Division II schools.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Former Sonoma State pitcher Alberto Rolon has signed a professional contract with the Lake Erie Crushers of the independent Frontier League.  Rolon will join his former Sonoma State teammate Brent Lysander, who signed with the Crushers prior to the 2009 season.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Sonoma State women's water polo head coach Coralie Simmons has been named the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches' (ACWPC) Division II National Coach of the Year.  Simmons led the Seawolves to their best-ever finish in the WWPA Championship Tournament in 2009.

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Sonoma State senior Gary Moran, the 2009 CCAA and West Region Pitcher of the Year, has been selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 41st round of the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft.

NORMAN, Okla-  Sonoma State senior Jarin Todd and sophomore Patrick Bauer have been named Second Team All-Americans by PING and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).  The two were instrumental in guiding Sonoma State to the 2009 NCAA Division II National Championship.
