ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  New head coach Jennifer Bridges is proud to announce the signing of four student-athletes for the Sonoma State University softball program.  Ciara Becerril, Rachel Gaber, Megan Koniezcka, and Ashley Osier have all signed National Letters of Intent to join the Seawolves for the 2010-11 season.

A pitcher, Ciara Becerril will look to make an immediate contribution to the Seawolves' staff.  Becerril spent her 2007 and 2008 seasons at Santa Clara High School, where she was a two-time First Team All-Tri Valley League selection as a freshman and sophomore.  As a junior, she transferred to Adolfo Camarillo High School in Camarillo.  A stellar basketball player as well, Becerril plays for the So Cal Pumas club team and has helped her club teams to a fourth place finish in the state and a fifth place finish in the Western Nationals.  In addition, she was nominated for the All-American game in Colroado last spring.

A four-year varsity letter winner from Marina High School in Anaheim, Rachel Gaber will join the Seawolves as a corner infielder.  During her junior season, Gaber helped lead Marina to a 2009 Sunset League Championship.  In the process, she was named an All-Sunset League selection as a first baseman.  In addition to being named a Marina High School Scholalr-Athlete, Gaber was also honored as the Best All-Around Athlete for her field hockey team.  As a member of the American Athletics club team, Gaber has a career batting average of .335.  She plan on majoring in liberal arts at Sonoma State.

Megan Koniezcka
, a 2009 El Toro High School team captain and First Team All-Seaview League pick as a junior, will be looked to for her strong bat and presence in the outfield.  Also a team captain and her team's Most Valuable Offensive Player in 2007, Koniezcka's leadership, both on and off the field, is evidenced by her experience as a five-year team captain of the American Athletics club, as ASB President (2010), concert choir president (2010), ASB Vice President (2009), and a School Board Representative (2009).  Koniezcka plans to major in Biology with an emphasis in Zoology.

Ashley Osier will join the squad as both a pitcher and catcher and as a powerful offensive threat. As a varsity starter, Osier was an All-Capital Valley League selection as a junior while finishing second in her league in runs batted in.  Rio Linda High Schools Team MVP as a junior, she led her squad in both batting average and on base percentage.  As a star for her club team, Mizuno All-American, Osier was the winner of the Bay Area Showcase Home Run Contest last October.  Osier is an Honor Roll student who plans to study Criminal Justice at Sonoma State.

Under first year head coach Jennifer Bridges, the 2010 Seawolves will begin their season on February 5th at the Best of the West Tournament in Turlock.
