Seawolves Roll To Road Win Over Argonauts, 79-67

Sterling Arterberry led the Seawolves with a career-high 19.
BELMONT, Calif-  Freshman Sterling Arterberry's 19 points led a quartet of Seawolves in double figures as Sonoma State continued their strong play with a 79-67 win over Notre Dame de Namur on Tuesday night in Belmont.  The Seawolves won for the third time in their last four outings, improving to 3-5 on the season.  The Argonauts dropped to 1-7.

Arterberry's career-high 19 points came on nearly perfect shooting.  He went 7-for-8 from the field and 5-for-5 from the free throw line.  Joining Arterberry in double digits were Steven Pratt (18 points), Mike Nelson (16), and Chris Weber (14).

The Seawolves got out to a fine start, taking leads of 10-4 and 16-10 before a 9-0 Argonaut run fueled by three straight three-pointers vaulted NDNU into the lead at 19-16.

The Argonauts would lead by two at the break (33-31) and by as many as six early in the second before a 25-11 stretch put Sonoma in the lead for good.

Kyle Shandera and Chad Chambers led the Seawolves with six rebounds apiece.  Weber and Ashley Arnott posted six and four assists, respectively, to guide the offense.

The Seawolves shot 55.1% as a team and a stellar 94.7% (18-for-19) from the charity stripe.

Nick Storment and Bennie Murray each had 19 points to lead Notre Dame de Namur.

The Seawolves have one more game in 2009, on December 22nd when they host Humboldt State in a rematch of a game Sonoma won in Arcata last week, 65-50.
