CHICO, Calif. -- Spurred by an individual medalist performance by
Sarah Rotter, the Sonoma State women's golf team cruised to a three-stroke victory on Monday at the Interwest Chico State Invitational at Butte Creek Country Club in Chico. The regular season-ending win could be big for the Seawolves as they look to clinch a spot in the NCAA West Regional.
The Seawolves will now await word from the NCAA selection committee as to if they will participate in the regional, which will be hosted by Sonoma State at Foxtail Golf Course in Rohnert Park, May 4th through 6th. The Seawolves were ranked 8th in the most recent regional rankings, released on April 16th. A new poll will be released later this week. The top nine teams will advance to the regional tournament.

Sitting two strokes off the lead after round one,
Sarah Rotter fired the best round of the day, a 73, to win the individual title by a stroke over Bianca Armanini of Chico State. Rotter finished the tournament at 75-73--148.
Though no other Seawolves would finish within five strokes of Rotter, a pack of three finishing with nearly the same scores keyed the victory.
Haley Whitbeck (77-77--154) finished 9th, one swing ahead of
Alexis Hayes (75-81--156) and
Hannah Gregg (76-80--156).
Erin Martens took 16th at 82-82--164.
