LACEY, Wash- Senior forward
Tracy Webster put the Sonoma State up 1-0 early in the second half but two goals within six minutes of each other by Saint Martin's proved to be too much as the Saints upset the Seawolves, 2-1, in women's soccer action Saturday at Lacey, Wash. The Seawolves fell to 2-1-0.
Sonoma State could not get much going offensively in the first half, as Saint Martin's didn't allow one shot by the Seawolves before the halftime intermission. However, ten minutes into the second half,
Taylor Colacion found Webster upfield as she put the ball past SMU goalkeeper Ashley Engel for the first score of the match at 55:37.
In the 63rd minute, Kayci Donatelli fired a shot that deflected off SSU netminder
Courtney Grixti and into the goal to knot the score at one. Then, at 68:42, Jill Webb converted one of her game-high six shot attempts for the eventual game winner.
The Seawolves only managed three shots all afternoon to the Saints' 11 attempts. Grixti made six saves between the posts for Sonoma State.
Sonoma State will travel to Bellingham, Wash. on Monday to take on Western Washington at 11:30 a.m. before returning home to open up California Collegiate Athletic Association play against Cal State Stanislaus next Friday.
