ROHNERT PARK -- David Ahern scored a season-high 20 points and
Nathan Molony-Benjamin added 12 points and a game-high seven rebounds off the bench as the Sonoma State men's basketball team boasted an all-around effort in Saturday's 68-48 convincing victory over visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills at The Wolves' Den in Rohnert Park.
The Seawolves jumped to 8-5 overall this season and 3-4 in the CCAA. The Toros fell below .500 at 7-8, dropping to 1-6 against conference opponents.
Sonoma led from start to finish and dominated every aspect of the contest, connecting on a sizzling 54.2 percent from the floor on 26 of 48 shooting, the best output of the season thus far. Ahern led the way, scoring 12 of his 20 points from beyond the three-point arc while Molony-Benjamin and
Luke Cochran controlled the paint, helping SSU outscore CSUDH 34-14 under the hoop; Cochran dropped in eight points in the win.
The Seawolves also turned 16 Toro turnovers into 19 points and the Sonoma State bench outscored the visiting bench, 25-0.
In addition to Molony-Benjamin's 12 points and seven rebounds, the junior recorded three steals, one block and one assist in 21 minutes of action.
Sonoma State heads to Turlock on Friday to face Stanislaus State at 7:30 pm before heading up to Chico State next Saturday night.
