LOS ANGELES, Calif.-- The Sonoma State Men's Tennis team traveled to Los Angeles to get some work in at ITA Fall Regionals. Looking to shake off the off-season rust, the Seawolves went into their first tournament of the year with high hopes.
After all four Sonoma State players recieved a bye in the round of 64, the round of 32 welcomed them with open arms.
David Hutton played the first match of the day for SSU, but came up short against Freddy Wilkens from Azusa Pacific, 6-0, 6-2.
Jimmy Manning played next against UC San Diego's Max Jigante, but could not come up with a victory, losing 6-1, 6-3. Playing later in the day, Seth Hien drew a UCSD oppoenent in Ganesh Alagappen. Hein would be silenced, however, taking the 6-2, 6-2 loss.

The doubles competition saw the first win of the day for the Seawolves. Hein and Manning were able to overcome the Azusa Pacific pairing of Zach McMahon and Daniel Sosnowski, 9-8, in the round of 32. In the round of 16, Hein and Manning were uprooted by Yevhen Zakarov and Martin Chojnacki of BYU-Hawaii in a hard fought 9-7 loss. The other Sonoma State pair, Dy and Hutton, were granted a round of 32 bye, giving them a second round match against Mikey Zabian and Brooks Baldinger from Point Loma Nazarene. The pair from Point Loma made quick work of Dy and Hutton, winning the match 8-4.
