Tyler Hess Goes To Atlanta Braves In 19th Round

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  Hard throwing right-hander Tyler Hess has become the third Sonoma State player to be drafted in the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft.  The Alamo native was selected in the 19th round by the Atlanta Braves.

Hess had an up and down 2010 season with the Seawolves, his only with the club.  While he struck out 33 batters in 39 innings, he allowed 25 walks and finished with a 2-3 record to go along with a 7.15 ERA. 

A junior, Hess came to Sonoma State from Pepperdine, where he pitched his first two seasons.  He played his high school ball at De La Salle for former Sonoma State player and coach Eric Borba. 

Hess becomes the third Sonoma State player drafted in 2010 and the 15th since 2004.  He also becomes the first SSU player selected by the Atlanta Braves since Aaron Parker in 2002.
