Ryan Carter and
Jeremy Wendelken finished the three-round Cal State East Bay Invitational on Monday and Tuesday with a 226, pacing the Sonoma State men's golf team to a third place finish behind Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State Stanislaus.
Wendelken bounced back from an eight-over par 80 in Monday's opening round to shoot one-under on Tuesday and finish 10th in the tournament (80-75-71--226), tied with Carter. Carter shot a 77-76-73--226.
Janssen Todd finished two strokes behind the team leaders with a 79-73-76--228, finishing tied for the 12th spot in the tournament.
Patrick Bauer overcame an 81 stroke performance in the second round, salvaging a 17th place finish with a 77-81-73--231 outing this week.
Tyler Schmuckle finished two shots behind Bauer at 233, with scores of 82-78-73.
Despite the first place individual finish of Cal State Stanislaus' Brandon Taylor, who shot a 71-71-75--217, Sonoma State (905) finished just one stroke behind the Warriors (904). The Otters of CSUMB finished with a team score of 896.
Sonoma State will take a week off before returning to play at the Southern California Intercollegiate Tournament at Mission Viejo on Mar. 22-23.
