SEASIDE, Calif-  Scott Alexander tossed four shutout innings and Max Shupe had three hits and three RBIs to lead Sonoma State to a 14-6 win over Cal State Monterey Bay in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader in Seaside.  The Otters, however, would come back to take game two, 2-1, to take the final game of the four-game series.  Saturday's split leaves the Seawolves at 4-1 on the year and it moves to the Otters to 1-3.

In game one, the Seawolves got on the board in the second inning when Austin Hogans launched a two-run home run, his second of the year.  The Seawolves would build the lead to 6-0 by the top of the sixth inning as the Otters' offense came up empty against the southpaw Alexander.

Max Shupe, who hit the game-winning home run in the Seawolves' season opening win against San Francisco State finished 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles.  Sonoma would produce 11 hits in all, including home runs by Kyle Jones and Brian Wright, in addition to Hogans' second inning blast.

Following Alexander's four-inning performance, the Seawolves turned to Tyler Hess, who was credited with the win after giving up a run in two innings.  Paul Oules and Casey Slate also pitched for Sonoma State.

While the offense had been clicking the entire series for Sonoma, it came up empty in game two of Saturday's twinbill.  Held to just one hit in the first four innings, the Seawolves could manage just five hits in all and one run, on a sacrifice fly by Cameron Cook in the seventh and final inning.  Jones would be the lone Seawolf with more than one hit as he went 3-for-4.

Thomas Lee was tagged with the loss, though he pitched well for Sonoma State, allowing one hit and one run in three innings of work.  Jarrod Dumont allowed one run in two innings and Brian Bordagaray pitched one scoreless inning.

The Seawolves return to the diamond next Tuesday when they travel to San Francisco State.
