Men's Golf Suffers Slow Start At Mauna Lani

Ryan Carter led Sonoma State on Wednesday afternoon.
WAIKOLOA, Hawaii-  Windy conditions played a part in a rough day for the Sonoma State men's golf team on Wednesday at the Mauna Lani Intercollegiate as the Seawolves finished first round action in 22nd place overall.  Play will continue on Thursday with a single round and conclude on Friday with another.

Ryan Carter was the Seawolves' top golfer on Wednesday, shooting a seven-over 79.  He was followed by Tyler Shmuckle (80), Alex Marry (84), Patrick Bauer (88), and Janssen Todd (89).

The windy conditions affected all teams in the tournament as just one team, UCLA, was able to come in at even par or better.  The Bruins are at 288 (E), with a three stroke lead over Oregon and Washington.

The Seawolves, defending NCAA Division II Champions, are one of just three non-NCAA Division I schools in the event.
