National Champions Tee Off Season In Hawaii

ROHNERT PARK, Calif-  The defending NCAA Division II champion Sonoma State men's golf team will get their spring season underway this afternoon in Hawaii at the 20th Annual Mauna Lani Invitational, hosted by the University of Hawaii-Hilo at Mauna Lani Golf Course on the big island. 

In the event, the Seawolves will line up against some of the top collegiate teams in the nation, including Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Texas, Florida State, USC, and UCLA among many others. 

Sonoma State is one of just three non-NCAA Division I schools in the event.  They are joined by Cal State East Bay and the host school, Hawaii-Hilo.

VALLEJO, Calif- Ryan Carter and Jeremy Wendelken finished the three-round Cal State East Bay Invitational on Monday and Tuesday with a 226, pacing the Sonoma State men's golf team to a third place finish behind Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State Stanislaus.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif- Fueled by a one-under 69 performance by Patrick Bauer in round three of the Coyote Classic, the Sonoma State men's golf team finished in fourth place, just six strokes out of first place, wrapping up the two-day 54-hole tournament on Tuesday at Arrowhead Country Club in San Bernardino.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif-  Led by a final round 69 by junior Patrick Bauer, the Sonoma State men's golf team jumped to fifth place on Tuesday at the CSUB Elco Invitational at Seven Oaks Country Club in Bakersfield.  Bauer's strong finish propelled him to a second place finish among individuals.

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii-  In a field made up of some of the top NCAA Division I golf teams in the nation, the defending NCAA Division II champion Sonoma State Seawolves finished 19th at the Mauna Lani Invitational on Friday afternoon in Hawaii.  Ryan Carter was the Seawolves top finisher in the tournament, placing 77th as an individual.

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii-  Sonoma State showed a 25-stroke improvement on Thursday afternoon in the Mauna Lani Invitational, jumping two teams in the process to enter final round action in 20th place.  Alex Marry led the way with a two-over 74.

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii-  Windy conditions played a part in a rough day for the Sonoma State men's golf team on Wednesday at the Mauna Lani Intercollegiate as the Seawolves finished first round action in 22nd place overall.  Play will continue on Thursday with a single round and conclude on Friday with another.
