ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Among the national and conference leaders in kills per set all season long, sophomore Keala Peterson was rewarded with a selection to the All-California Collegiate Athletic Association Volleyball First Team. It was announced Thursday by the conference office.

Three other Sonoma State student-athletes -- senior Lindsay Brown, sophomore Taylor Krenwinkel and freshman Ally Sather -- earned second team All-CCAA honors.

In her first season with the Seawolves after transferring from Division I UC Davis, Peterson recorded 401 kills which broke the record for most kills by a sophomore in a single-season. Despite missing three matches due to injury earlier in the season, the six-foot outside hitter from nearby Sebastopol appeared in 96 sets and averaged 4.18 kills per set. Peterson helped out defensively as well with 260 digs and led the team with 13 double-doubles this season.

Completing her fourth season in the Sonoma State uniform, Brown was a major factor in the Seawolves' success this year and earned herself the third straight second team all-conference nod. With 1,108 assists, she helped Peterson and Sather become one of the conference's (and nation's) best one-two punch. The 5-10 setter from Napa shattered the career assists record last season and continued to add to her record total, ending her four-year stint at Sonoma State with 3,619 assists. She came just 33 short of topping her own single-season record of 1,140. Brown also topped the career service aces mark with 147, exceeding the previous record of 130.

Krenwinkel was one of the most consistent defenders in the conference this season, leading the CCAA in digs per set all year long. With 539 digs this season and a 4.73 digs per set mark, Krenwinkel, a 5-7 libero from San Diego, went over the 1,000 digs milestone in her career, and now holds 1,062 in her two-year career. She added 31 service aces this season as well.

Sather, a six-foot outside hitter from nearby Santa Rosa, led the team with 442 kills, shattering the record for most kills by a freshman earlier this season. She, along with Peterson, was among the conference and national leaders in kills per set, finishing the 2009 season with 3.98 per set.

Sonoma State (23-8) wrapped up its 2009 season on Thursday with a first round loss in the NCAA tournament to CCAA-foe Cal State L.A.
