The Seawolves enter this week's tournament as the No. 1 seed
WALNUT CREEK, Calif-  The field for the 2008 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Baseball Championships is set following the conclusion of the regular season on Sunday. The four-team tournament will open Thursday at Chico State's Nettleton Stadium.

Sonoma State (42-12, 26-8 CCAA) captured the regular-season title and will be the tournament's No. 1 seed. UC San Diego (41-14, 25-11 CCAA) is the second seed while Chico State (37-13, 24-11 CCAA) and Cal State Stanislaus (36-19, 24-12 CCAA) are seeded third and fourth, respectively.

The Seawolves, who were ranked as high as No. 2 in the country earlier this year, will face Cal State Stanislaus in Thursday's tournament-opener that beginning at 3 p.m. UC San Diego and Chico State will play the day's second game at 7 p.m.

The double-elimination tournament continues on Friday with three games, including a pair of elimination contests, and concludes on Saturday with the championship game scheduled for noon. A second game, if necessary, will follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.

Three of the four teams that competed in the 2007 CCAA Championships, return to post-season play this year. Sonoma State, which defeated UC San Diego, 15-5, in last year's championship game, will look to defend its conference title and win its fifth championship in 10 tournament appearances.
